HP because I love the look of their laptops and they are a trusted company. Dell makes cheap and limited computers that die quickly. I have never been interested in Macs though.

Mac is just too foreign for me. It's like learning how to use a computer all over again.

Mac is as easy as learning how to walk! I don't understand, I grew up with a mac, but I know how to use Linux, Unix, and Windows Computers.

I personally use an Emachines system. I put a removable hard drive slot in it, so I can run either Red Hat Linux, or Windows Xp on it. (Red Hat is definatley the better of the two, though Xp, is probably more user-friendly)

My Emachine I'd say is about equivelant to a Dell or an Hp I wouldn't say that Red Hat is for the computer geek, though it does have a small learing curve in a way. I thing the hardest thing about Red Hat (and Linux) in general, is trying to find things. It is layed out totaly different to Windows and lot of programs are proceeded by a K or Gnome, so a word progam might be something like: Kwriter etc. Some can have really wierd names so it can be confusing. One neat thing about RH is the number of applications there are. I'd say my RH has about six-ten word programs, maybe three e-mail programs, probably five media players, so it takes a lot of sorting through to find what one works the best. Finally, it takes about two to three times to start up as Windows. The only downside to RH and all Linux software, is that there isn't a lot of programs for sale for them. Like you can't go to say Best Buy and buy a games for them etc. So I'd say it comes downt to this- if your willing to invest the time Linux is a good buy, but if you want something that is really user-friendly then I'd go with Windows. BTW- I've heard that Linux isn't as suseptible to viruses as Windows, but I don't know if that is true or not...

Yes, I use Windows for games, web-surfing etc. But for personal stuff I use Red Hat Linux. My computer has a removeable hard-drive, so I can alternate operating systems just by slipping the one hard drive out, and slipping the new one in

Well, I have a Dell XPS that runs on Windows, and its probably the best computer I have seen (compared to freinds and family). My sister has a Mac, and I HATE it. I wouldn't know how to do anything on it if my life depended on it. So I don't know we everyone thinks its so good; although I bet I'd think more highly of it if I knew how to use it.

Wow, looking back on this is hilarious. I kept saying how Macs were foreign and I would never get one blah, blah, blah. And now I have one. I payed $1300 for it, and I love it so dearly. I hate Windows PCs all-together now.
